In its heyday, Holy Trinity Church in the East End of Sunderland was one of the most important buildings in the city. Functioning not only as a place of worship, but also as a meeting venue and alms house the building was central to the local community and the East End inhabitant's needs.
Recently, like many churches it is looking to reinvent itself as a public space, hosting events or gallery space.
The images are from occasions spent at the Church, and reflect my impressions of the church itself as it seeks to fulfill both traditional and highly contemporary functions. 2012/13.
